“Watch it!”

I stop abruptly and look at him questioningly.

“There! Just right infront of you!”

and points to the lush green of the meadow.

Crouching, I let one of the many tiny chameleons crawl around me on my finger. It raises a little leg, remains in this position, moves a bit forward, then the next leg comes, pause, then a little back and forth and again a step forward. Like a leaf in the wind. Short, rapid movements and otherwise absolute motionlessness. Until it’s on my finger, minutes pass.

The feet look so cute. Only two laterally spread toes. And the feeling on my skin! Chameleon skin on mine. Soft as a baby’s bum.

This painting is just as delicate.

You have to go very close to the animal to see it so big. But in my picture it is only recognizable in the distance. I like these opposites. As opposed like the threatening, dinosaur-like appearance of a chameleon to its size.
